Economic law and policyHasegawa, Akiko

This course aims to gain a better understanding of competition policy. To that end, we will learn about antitrust law, which represents economic law, using treatises and legal cases. I would like to consult with the students and decide on areas to study in detail (antitrust law regulates monopolies, unfair trade restrictions, unfair trading practices, M & A, etc.).

The competition policies of each country influence each other. Therefore, if necessary, we may study competition law of other countries such as the United States, EU, China and South Korea.

Local Public FinanceKaname, Tetsuro

The purpose of this course is for studens to understand the problems and policy issues related to Local Public Finance, and to be able to analyze, consider, and make proposals for decentralised society and intergovernmental fiscal relations from a historical and institutional perspective. The participants are required to read the assigned books before class, regardless of whether you are obligated to make a presentation.

Regional Statistical AnalysisHanada, Shinichi

In this lecture, we will consider the statistical methods necessary to analyze and evaluate the environment of the region. We focus on the official statistics, and learn the statistical methods using the aggregated data.

Health science and education in the RegionTotsuka, Manabu

Family and Life course in Local communityTakase, Masahiro

The life course approach is one of the sociological viewpoints that focuses on the relationship between social change and family / individual life. This lecture introduces the concepts of the life course approach and examples of research.After that, we will discuss the possibility of grasping the state of the local community through “the life courses of people in Aomori (or Tohoku)”.

Study of Educational practice in the RegionKodama, Fumiaki

In this lecture, we will examine the historical transition of Place-based education (PBE) in Japan. We willdivide the history from 1945 to the present into three periods, and explore the characteristics and significance of PBL in each period. Then, consider what kind of community learning is required in the current social situation.

Sociology of Education in local communityFukushima, Hirotoshi

Based on the understanding of the relationship between educational practice and theory, we will structurally and analytically understand “education” from the perspective of pedagogy and sociology of education, and consider the ideal way of educational practice.

developmental care and support for social inclusionMasuda, Takahito

As considering a community development, we must not ignore minorities that are difficult to express. It is important in community development to take in their opinions and/or to include ideas on the premise that the society is diverse in the first place. This lecture focuses on young children with and without disabilities and discusses and lectures on inclusive education and developmental support from the perspective of clinical developmental psychology.

Regional Public Policy StudiesMakita, Jun

This class, based on the academic foundations, considers regional public policies from the perspective of both the public and the private sectors for understanding the present problems the regions face. First of all, the representative theories and ideas regarding the basic flows of policy process and the central actors there will be introduced, and subsequently, how such factors are related with each other and what a carrelation is made will be examined through the research about the actual concrete cases.

In this class, we will learn practical methods for various actors such as citizens, governments, NPOs, and companies to be involved in the formation and implementation of regional policies. Students needs to participate in collaborative projects by governments, citizens, NPOs, universities, private companies, etc., and grasp their historical background and actual conditions, discover issues, formulate alternatives, and make regular reports.

The purpose is to deepen the understanding of various issues that arise in various fields related to competition law through reading treatises and judgments. In the lectures, at first we will review the previous studies of the sociology of community based on the interests of the students. Then we will learn practically how to collect and analyze available materials and data to develop individual research.
